Defined by Outcomes or Culture? Constructing an Organizational Identity for Hispanic-Serving Institutions

From a cultural perspective, identity is constructed based on deeply held perceptions of the organization’s core values and beliefs. Through the lens of the researcher, participants described ‘‘who we are’’ based on indicators of a culture that effectively serves Latinxs. The study showed the opportunities to engage with the Latinx community, a campus climate that is positive for Latinx students, and the establishment of support programs for Latinx students.
