Automated Proposal Compliance Checks Performed by Research.gov as of March 30, 2020

This compliance checklist provided by the National Science Foundation is used for proposals of all types submitted through Research.gov. The nine-page document is thorough and explicit in what is required, including format details (for example font sizes and types, section headings, page numbering, and line spacing), procedures for submission, and required sections and labels.

Especially useful is the labeling of compliance problems with the terms "error," which result in a hard stop of the proposal, or "warning," which still allow for submission.

Additional information on compliance checking can be found on the NSF website: https://www.nsf.gov/bfa/dias/policy/autocompliance.jsp
