This resource speaks to the urgent need to attend to issues of retention regarding the Latinx student population in higher education and suggests the need for policy in support of bilingual education as a manner of attending to the growing Latinx population in higher education. In the article, the author makes a point to express the value of the voices of Latinx students or voces de poder (voices of power) saying that anti-bilingual educational policies have contributed to the silencing of Latinx voices. He goes on to provide a historical narrative of instances wherein these policies have affected this student demographic.
